This week our Toronto FC II Q & A is with Jamaican midfielder Martin Davis. The youngster dishes on his favourite pre-game music, favourite soccer memory and what motivates him to make it as a professional.
Q: Describe yourself as a player on the pitch and as a person off the pitch
Davis: On the pitch, I’m an attacking player that likes to run a defenders and make plays. Off the field, I would say I’m a humble person.
Q: What is your favourite pregame meal?
Davis: Pasta with Chicken.
Q: What artist or song do you use to pump yourself up before games?
Davis: I listen to some ‘Popcaan’ (laughs). Anything dancehall.
Q: Do you have any pregame rituals?
Davis: Not really, I get get lost into the dancehall music.
Q: Who is your favourite soccer team/player?
Davis: My favourite team is Barcelona and my favourite player is Messi
Q: What is your favourite soccer memory?
Davis: That would be debuting for the Jamaican U-17 team, it was in the Caribbean Cup against Bermuda. It felt really good to make my debut internationally.
Q: What is your main source of motivation/inspiration?
Davis: Just wanting to do well on the pitch and make it in soccer for my family.
Q: If you weren’t a soccer player, what would you be?
Davis: A sports phycologist.
Q: Do you have any hidden talents outside of soccer?
Davis: I can cook. I can make all the Jamaican dishes, but my main one is Ackee and Saltfish.
Q: Who would you say your best friend or friends are on TFC II?
Davis: Massimo Mirabelli. We joke around and he’s into the dancehall music as well.
Q: If you could speak to the TFC fans, what would you like them to know about you?
Davis: I’m excited to and hungry to make it to the first team and show you what I can do!
