BMO Champions Cup Day Three

TORONTO – The second day of the BMO Champions Cup wrapped up on Friday with both U-13’s and U-15’s continuing their tournaments.


U-15 DIVISION

Game 7: Oakville SC 2 – 1 North Toronto SC.


Game 8: Toronto FC Academy (2003) 8 – 0 Rush Canada White.


The day kicked off with a match between North Toronto SC and Oakville SC. North Toronto had a great start controlling possession and creating several chances. Oakville’s keeper Alex Petrovic in an incredible first half performance saved a penalty in the 18th minute. North Toronto kept pressuring Oakville’s defense and Abdul Hamad opened the scoring for North Toronto in the 28th minute.


The start of the second-half saw both teams trying to take control of the match with strong midfield play. Lucas Russo scored for Oakville in the 74th minute off a corner kick. Four minutes later Jayden Anderson gave Oakville the lead with a right footed strike from outside the box that hit the bottom right corner. With an incredible comeback, Oakville registered their first victory with a final score of 2-1.


The Second game saw Toronto FC Academy (2003) take on Rush Canada White. The Young Reds started controlling possession not giving space to Rush Canada White. Christian Zeppieri opened the scoring for TFC in the 22nd minute off a free kick, while Stefano Capano scored a first-half hat trick.


The Young Reds continued to control the second half. Juan Sanches converted a penalty in the 48th minute while Kosi Thompson registered a hat trick scoring in the 42nd , 44th and 54th minute.


U-13 DIVISION

Game 9: Pro Stars Academy 3 – 1 Ottawa South United


Game 10: Toronto FC Academy (2005) 3 – 0 Woodbridge SC.


The first game of the U-13 division saw Ottawa South United taking on Pro Stars Academy. Pro Stars started the match strong and was rewarded when Oskar Kozubal opened the scoring in the 12th minute. Pro Stars continuous control of the match helped to close space and pressure Ottawa’s defense.


In the second half, Ottawa was given few chances and limited space to create an attack. Timoor Beg and Jesse Costa extended Pro Stars lead to 3-0. Ottawa broke the deadlock when Adam Alhbadi scored in the 58th minute off a free kick, but fell 3-1.


Toronto FC Academy (2005) had their second group stage match against Woodbridge SC. The Young Reds, controlled and threatened space behind Woodbridge’s defense creating several opportunities. Woodbridge had moments in the counter attacks, but nothing came out of it as TFC defenders Pariss Mitchell and Joshua Gordon were closing spaces and securing TFC defense.


The Young Reds opened the scoring early in the second half. Lucas Neto scored twice. The first goal came in the 47thminute when he hit a left-footed volley. The second goal came in the 54th minute. Andrei Dumitru scored one last time for TFC in the 80th minute.
