Alex Bono Up for 2017 MLS Save of the Year

Bono Carrying Zavs

Show-stopping saves are starting to become the norm for Alex Bono.

Claiming the starting role in 2017, the Syracuse product has been lights out for the Reds, recording 19 wins and 10 clean sheets in 28 regular season starts. From last-ditch swipes to jaw-dropping reaction saves, Bono did it all.

Few stops were better, however, than his fingertip save on Philadelphia Union midfielder Ilsinho at BMO Field on August 23. Showing off his incredible acrobatics, the 23-year-old backstop somehow managed to push the sizzling drive onto the bar and away from danger to preserve yet another shutout.
