Kosi Thompson Signs

Toronto FC II announced today that the club has signed midfielder Kosi Thompson to a USL contract. He will be joining the roster pending league and federation approval.

“Kosi is an extremely mature young man with a bright future in the professional game,” said Toronto FC II head coach Mike Munoz. “His ability to take players on in wide areas is very difficult for defenders as he combines skill, technique, power and pace. I am excited to see him grow and continue to rise to the challenges he will face this year.”

Thompson, 18, represented Toronto FC Academy in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy (USSDA) competition from 2016 to 2020, scoring 16 goals in 20 appearances across three age groups (U-13, U-16/17 and U18/19). In 2019, he was part of the U-16 team that won the prestigious 2019 Dallas Cup and was named to the 2019-20 Generation Adidas Best XI. He joined the Toronto FC Academy in February 2015.

“Kosi will always be remembered for the goal he scored against Atlanta United in the Generation Adidas qualifying event that helped the team secure a spot in the Champions Division of the competition,” said TFC Academy Director Anthony Capotosto. “We’re excited to follow his progression to TFC II and look forward to seeing him perform at the professional level.”
