Toronto FC announces roster for first preseason camp

Toronto FC departed for Orlando, Florida to begin the first leg of the 2020 preseason where the Reds will train through to January 29. Following Orlando, TFC will spend a week back home in Toronto before heading to Los Angeles, California on February 5. The Club will spend the remainder of the month in LA, ahead of the 2020 MLS regular season opener on Saturday, February 29 against the San Jose Earthquakes.


Toronto FC brought a total of 38 players to Orlando, including 26 players currently on the club’s first team roster, eight members of Toronto FC II and four draft picks. Captain Michael Bradley did not travel with the club to Orlando, following surgery on Tuesday.


Ten different countries are represented amongst the 38 players on Toronto FC’s Orlando camp roster. Canada (15), United States (12), France (2), and one player from each of the following countries: Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Denmark, Japan, Nigeria, Senegal, Spain and Venezuela.


Of the 15 Canadian-born players in Orlando, 13 are 21 years old or younger; born between 1998 and 2004. Those players range in age from Liam Fraser (born in 1998) to Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty (born in 2004 and the youngest signing in TFC history). A total of 13 players in this camp, including Ayo Akinola who was born in the U.S. but raised in Toronto, are products of the Toronto FC Academy.
