Toronto FC II was defeated by the Charleston Battery 4-0 on Sunday night at BMO Field.
The first half was uneventful with neither teams having many good looks at goal. The best opportunity came for Charleston as their forward got in on Borja Angoitia and rounded him but Julian Dunn hustled his way back to block the open goal.
The Battery opened the scoring in the 59th minute as Ataulla Guerra fired home a rocket into the top corner past Angoitia.
Kotaro Higashi doubled the visitor’s lead as he finished off a good attacking move from the Battery.
The second half saw the TFC II debut of Terique Mohammed as he came on as a 70th minute substitute for Tim Kubel.
Charleston added another two before the final whistle as both O'brian Woodbine and Gordon Wild scored on the counter. The Reds showed good fight generating a couple chances in the final moments but had nothing to show for it as the match ended 4-0.
Toronto FC II returns to action this Wednesday when they travel to Tampa Bay to take on the Rowdies. Kickoff from Al Lang Stadium is set for 6:00 PM.
