TORONTO – After three years in Toronto, midfielder Raheem Edwards is moving east.
With the final pick in the 2017 Expansion Draft, Los Angeles FC selected the Mississauga native before trading the 22-year-old to the Montreal Impact. Edwards and Jukka Raitala (newly acquired from Columbus Crew SC) were sent to Montreal in exchange for defender Laurent Ciman.
“No matter how you work your protected list, we knew losing someone was a possibility due to the depth of our roster. Raheem is an exciting young player and even better person, we wish him all the best,” said Toronto FC Sr. Vice President, Soccer Operations & General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko.
Edwards, made a combined 25 appearances and registered one goal and eight assists between MLS league matches, MLS Cup playoffs and the Amway Canadian Championship during the 2017 season.
