Toronto FC forward Sebastian Giovinco, defender Justin Morrow and midfielder Víctor Vázquez have been named to the Major League Soccer Best XI for the 2017 season, MLS announced Thursday. The league’s top 11 players in a common soccer formation is determined by the vote of MLS players, club management, and media. This marks the third time in as many seasons that Giovinco has been named to the MLS Best XI, while both Justin Morrow and Víctor Vázquez earn this honor for the first time in their careers.

Giovinco, the 2015 MLS MVP, scored 16 goals and added six assists this season and was selected to play in his third consecutive MLS All-Star Game. Giovinco’s six free kick goals during the regular-season set a new MLS single-season record (since records available in 2003). Giovinco now has 13 direct free kick goals in his MLS career, which is also a league record. Giovinco was named MLS Player of the Week three times this season (Weeks 8, 21 & 25). In addition, he was named to the MLS Team of the Week on three occasions (Weeks 8, 21 & 25) with two appearances on the bench.

Morrow scored a career-high eight goals to lead all MLS defenders this season. He recorded his first career hat trick and became the second player in club history to record a hat trick during MLS league play. Morrow recorded the second MLS hat trick by a defender and first since the LA Galaxy's Jose Vazquez in 1997. Morrow was named MLS Player of the Week twice this season (Weeks 23 & 30) and was named to the MLS Team of the Week on three occasions (Weeks 10, 23 & 30).

Vázquez, playing his first season in MLS, finished second in the league in assists (16), and scored eight goals. He also led the league with six game-winning assists. Vázquez was named MLS Player of the Week four times (Weeks 13, 25, 27 & 28) with one appearance on the bench.
