TFC Players React To The Addition Of Clint Irwin

The offseason is nearly over with players set to report to the KIA Training Ground on Friday for the beginning of the preseason.

Toronto FC's roster sits at 27 players after the acquisition of goalkeeper Clint Irwin via a trade with the Colorado Rapids. Irwin joins former Rapids teammate Drew Moor in Toronto.

Irwin's addition was the final big piece left for General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko after both goalkeepers from last season, Joe Bendik and Chris Konopka, had their options declined.

TFC players took to social media to welcome Irwin to Toronto.

Moor isn't the only player on the Reds familiar with Irwin. Daniel Lovitz and Irwin are Elon University alumni.

Irwin will serve as a mentor to TFC's younger goalkeepers, who welcomed the 26-year-old to the 'keepers union.

Jordan Hamilton recorded his first goal for the Toronto FC Academy against Irwin when the latter plied his trade in the nation's capital.

Irwin will get a chance to formally meet his new teammates at the end of the week. The Reds will travel to Los Angeles to kickoff the preseason next week.
