Toronto FC selected Syracuse University goalkeeper Alex Bono with the sixth pick in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft.


Bono, 20, a Generation adidas player spent the last three seasons at Syracuse University. He becomes the first MLS draftee to be called into national team prior to the SuperDraft. He appeared and started in 59 matches, with a record of 39-17-3 and 30 clean sheets for the Orange.


In 2014, Bono was named to the NSCAA All-America First Team, and NSCAA All-South Region Team. He also received 2014 ACC Defensive Player of the Year honours. He set Syracuse single-season records for goals-against average (0.55), shutouts, and ranked seventh in the NCAA in both GAA and save percentage (.848). Bono was a finalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy and during his collegiate career he was voted to the Big East All-Rookie Team and also won the 2012-13 'Cuse Award for Male Rookie of the Year.
