Toronto FC trained at Lamport Stadium Wednesday morning and will leave
for Charleston Thursday afternoon where they will compete in the
Carolina Challenge Cup.
Dwayne De Rosario missed training due to a slight ankle
sprain, but the Canadian international doesn't expect to be sidelined
for long. "I rolled my ankle in training earlier this week but I am
feeling alright today," he told Toronto FC TV. "It has been improving
each day and I will try to jog tomorrow and be ready for the games in
Charleston."
Assistant coaches Nick Dasovic and Leo Percovich ran the training
session and Dasovic spoke with the media afterwards. He confirmed there
will be more trialists joining the team in Charleston, and also talked
about former Vancouver Whitecaps defender Adrian Can who has been
training with TFC this week.
"I know Adrian well. I played with him and also coached him
with the Canadian National Team," Dasovic explained. "I know what he
can bring to the team and it is up to him to show the rest of the staff
what he can do in a proper game when we get down to Charleston."
Toronto FC's opening game at the Carolina Challenge Cup is on
Saturday at 7:15 p.m. against the hosts Charleston Battery. A video
stream of the game will be available on Toronto FC TV along with a live
blog on TorontoFC.ca.
