USSDA Showcase

The Toronto FC Academy U-16 (2002) team was in picturesque Oceanside, California last week to take part in the U-16/U-17 US Soccer Development Academy (USSDA) Summer Showcase.

The event brings together the best teams from around the USSDA’s for a final tournament to end the season. The teams that had qualified took part in the playoffs for a chance to win the title well other teams played showcase games. Since the Academy was not a part of the 2017-18 USSDA season the team was invited to partake in the showcase games.

The U-16s played against a majority of competition a year their senior. The first game of the tournament was against fellow MLS Academy side D.C. United. D.C took the opening game 4-1 with Julian Accettola scoring the goal for the Reds.

TFC then came up against Crossfire Premier from Redmond, Washington. Josh Solomon found the back of the net as the Reds fell 3-1.

The boys battled back to show some fight in their final game of the trip against the San Jose Earthquakes. Cameron DaSilva and Alex Marin both scored as the boys finished the trip with a 2-1 victory.
