Toronto FC sign Liam Fraser

Liam Fraser

Toronto FC announced Friday that the club has signed midfielder Liam Fraser as a Homegrown Player. He becomes the 16th player in club history to sign for the first team from the Toronto FC Academy. The club has signed a total of 35 Toronto FC Academy players to professional contracts for Toronto FC, Toronto FC II and Toronto FC III.

“Over that past two seasons with TFC II and during his time with our Academy, Liam has shown a tremendous amount of hard work and dedication, especially in his desire to learn the defensive midfield role at the next level,” said Toronto FC Sr. Vice President, Soccer Operations & General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko. “Liam becomes the fourth product and another Canadian Homegrown player to complete the full player pathway designed at Toronto FC”.

Fraser, 19, has made 52 appearances in three seasons for TFC II in the USL, scoring two goals. He originally signed with Toronto FC II in February 2016. He also represented Toronto FC III in the 69th Viareggio Cup during the 2017 season. Liam was named captain of the team and appeared and started in all three group stage matches, registering two goals.

Fraser most recently was called into Canada Soccer's U-23 training camp. He has represented Canada at the CONCACAF Men's U-20 Championship. He appeared and started in all three of Canada’s group stage matches and captained the Voyageurs in their last match against Antigua and Barbuda.
