Toronto FC signed TFC Academy and TFC II product Antone Bossenberry Romero to a First Team contract as a Homegrown Player through the 2028-29 Major League Soccer (MLS) season with club options for 2029-30 and 2030-31. Named to The Guardian’s list of the 60 best young football talents in the world on October 14, 2025, the midfielder becomes the 39th player in club history to sign for the First Team from the Toronto FC Academy. The deal was completed prior to Roster Freeze on October 9.
“We are pleased to formalize Antone’s First Team contract at this time,” said Toronto FC General Manager Jason Hernandez. “Antone has accelerated through our pathway after a strong First Team experience this preseason. He continues to demonstrate he is up for the challenge here at the club and in the youth national team environment. We look forward to continuing to work together and be a part of his development and growth.”
Bossenberry, 18, made his First Team and MLS debut on April 25, 2026, in Toronto FC’s match against Atlanta United after receiving his first senior call-up. He made two additional First Team appearances while on short-term agreements, including the Canadian Championship match against Atlético Ottawa on May 5, 2026.
Prior to signing with TFC, Bossenberry recorded four goals and two assists through 33 appearances across two seasons (2025, 2026) for Toronto FC II in MLS NEXT Pro action. He made his TFC II debut on March 13, 2025, against Chicago Fire FC II and scored his first goal, a game-winner in the 80th minute, against Orlando City B on June 25, 2025. He originally signed his first professional contract with TFC II on October 2, 2025, becoming the 57th Toronto FC Academy athlete to sign a professional contract with Toronto FC II.
The Toronto, Ontario native originally joined the TFC Academy in August 2022 and represented the Academy across the U-15, U-17 and U-18 age groups. Internationally, Bossenberry was named to the Canadian National Team for the 2025 Concacaf U-17 Men’s Qualifiers in Bermuda from February 7 to 16, where he made three appearances and helped Canada win their group and qualify for the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup taking place in Qatar.
