TFC II sign three

Toronto FC II announced today that defender Terique Mohammed, midfielder Mehdi Essoussi and midfielder/forward Jayden Nelson have signed professional contracts. They become the 39th, 40th and 41st Toronto FC Academy players to sign pro contracts. All three players will be eligible to participate for both Toronto FC II and our USSDA team when their contracts become effective on January 1, 2019.

“I believe these signings are a continued commitment from Toronto FC and its vision for the future of the club,” said Toronto FC Assistant General Manager, Team Operations and Strategy Corey Wray. “Our goal is to establish our core group of young players within our academy and ensure they continue their progression together.”

Mohammed, 18, spent time between TFC III and TFC II this season. For TFC III, playing in League 1 Ontario, Mohammed has logged 502 minutes in seven matches, registering two goals. For TFC II he appeared in seven matches, starting in four logging 398 minutes.

Nelson, 15, joined the Academy in 2017 and represented Canada at the 2017 CONCACAF Under-15 Championship. This season, playing in league 1 Ontario for TFC III, Nelson has appeared in seven matches, scoring one goal in 185 minutes of action.

Essoussi, 17, originally joined the Academy in January 2017 from Ottawa South United. He rose quickly through the ranks to reach the top level of the Academy, Toronto FC III. This season Essoussi has logged 576 minutes in League 1, appearing in eight games.
