Toronto FC announced today that the club has acquired forward Lewis Morgan from San Diego FC in exchange for a 2026 International Roster Slot. He will be added to the club’s roster pending the receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC), work permit and medicals.

“We are happy to add Lewis at this time. He has established himself as an impactful attacker in the Eastern Conference over the past several seasons,” said Toronto FC General Manager Jason Hernandez. “His flexibility to play across multiple positions in the attack will be a valuable quality for our group moving forward.”

Morgan, 29, joins the Reds in his seventh Major League Soccer (MLS) season, having previously played for Inter Miami CF (2020, 2021), Red Bull New York (2022-2025) and most recently, San Diego FC (2026). He recorded three assists in 18 combined appearances for SDFC during the 2026 season, including his club debut against Sporting Kansas City on March 7.

Prior to joining San Diego, Morgan spent four seasons with Red Bull New York, where he registered 31 goals and 10 assists in 82 combined appearances. The attacker was named the 2024 MLS Comeback Player of the Year following a standout campaign in which he registered 13 goals and seven assists in 29 matches and helped the club secure a berth in the MLS Cup Playoffs berth.

Morgan originally joined Inter Miami CF in January 2020 as part of the club’s inaugural roster ahead of the 2020 MLS season. He made his MLS debut against Los Angeles FC on March 1, 2020, before scoring his first league goal against Atlanta United FC on September 9. With the Herons, he tallied seven goals and seven assists in 58 combined appearances before joining RBNY via a permanent trade in December 2021.

The Greenock, Scotland native originally progressed through the youth ranks at Rangers FC before joining St. Mirren at the age of 17. He signed his first professional contract in September 2013 and made his Scottish Premiership debut against Celtic on September 27, 2014. He spent four seasons with St. Mirren (2014-2018), recording 29 goals and 23 assists in 118 combined appearances.

Morgan joined Celtic FC in January 2018, registering two goals and three assists in 31 combined appearances across two seasons (2018-19, 2019-20). He also spent time on loan with Sunderland AFC during the 2018-19 season, where he tallied two goals and four assists before returning to Celtic.

On the international stage, Morgan represented Scotland at the U-21 level and has earned seven caps for the Scottish Men’s National Team, including appearances at UEFA Euro 2024 and the 2024-2025 UEFA Nations League. He made his senior debut for Scotland in an international friendly against Peru on May 29, 2018.
