Toronto FC announced today that the club has acquired winger Alejandro Piedrahita from Bulgarian club CSKA Sofia (First Division) on loan through the 2027 Major League Soccer (MLS) Sprint season, with an option to purchase. Piedrahita will occupy an International Roster Slot, and he will be added to the roster pending the receipt of his medicals and the International Transfer Certificate (ITC). The transaction was completed on Wednesday, September 2, prior to the close of MLS’s Transfer Window.
"We are happy to welcome Alejandro to Toronto," said Toronto FC General Manager Jason Hernandez. "Alejandro is a quick, aggressive, and direct wide attacker who will bolster our offensive group for the remainder of the 2026 season and the upcoming 2027 MLS Sprint season. He will provide us with an additional dynamic threat in transition moments and increase the level of competition within the team."
Piedrahita, 24, spent the past two seasons (2025-26, 2026-27) with CSKA Sofia, where he made a combined 21 appearances and tallied two goals across all competitions (efbet Liga, UEFA Europa League Qualifying, Bulgarian Cup). The winger made his club debut with the Bulgarian club during the semifinal leg of the Bulgarian Cup against Ludogorets Razgrad on April 21, 2026. This year, he also featured in the championship match against Lokomotiv Plovdiv on May 20, helping the team win on penalties to lift the 2025-26 Bulgarian Cup.
The Cartago, Colombia, native started his professional career with the First Division Colombian side Deportivo Pereira and spent five seasons (2020-2025) with the club, where he made his professional debut against Rionegro Águilas on October 26, 2020. During his time with Pereira, Piedrahita scored 10 goals and registered three assists through 110 appearances across all competitions (Liga DIMAYOR Apertura & Finalización, Liga DIMAYOR Liguilla, Copa Colombia, Fase Final Liga DIMAYOR II). In his second season with the Matecañas, the winger featured in 22 matches of the Liga DIMAYOR Finaliazación and helped his team win the Colombian title for the 2021-22 campaign.
During his time with Deportivo Pereira, Piedrahita was sent on two different loan spells in Argentina. The Colombian winger spent one year with Club Atlético Banfield (CA Banfield) during the 2023 season before joining Club de Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata in 2025, making a combined 25 appearances for the two clubs in Argentina’s First Division.
Internationally, Piedrahita was called up to the Colombian U-20 National Team in 2021 for a training camp ahead of the 2021 South American Championship.
