Toronto FC selected Robbie Findley with the sixth pick in phase one of the MLS re-entry draft.

“It’s a great opportunity,” Findley told TorontoFC.ca on Friday evening.”It’s a team that definitely has a lot of potential and the fans are amazing as well. I’m looking forward to getting things started and getting things rolling.”

Findley made 137 regular season appearances for Real Salt Lake, and scored 36 goals and 15 assists. The U.S. international is also RSL’s all-time leading goalscorer in the playoffs.

His game can be described as tenacious and his dogged determination on the ball is something the striker prides his game on.

“I’ve got pace, I’m a hard worker that gives 100% percent in everything I do. I will fight for the player next to me and I think that’s important when it comes to team unity.”

Findley played with Michael Bradley for the United States at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, but he’s not familiar with most of the squad. As an outside observer, however, the veteran is impressed.

“There’s talent there for sure. We just have to get the right pieces in place and be able to execute in order to get results.

Getting results and execution will be topics stressed at length in the coming weeks, but for now, Findley is dealing with the proposition of moving to Toronto and he’s pretty excited about it.

“It was definitely one of my favourite away cities when I was with RSL. As far as the lifestyle, the restaurants and the nightlife. It’s a cool, happening city. I’m looking forward to getting there.”

Findley provides depth at a position that didn’t enjoy stability in 2014. With Luke Moore, Jermain Defoe, Bright Dike and Gilberto and now Findley, Toronto FC is forming a strike force on par with the best clubs in MLS.
