TFC prevails in first preseason scrimmage in Orlando

Jonathan Osorio Orlando

Toronto FC’s first scrimmage is in the books.

The Reds took on Montverde Academy in Orlando on Tuesday. The high school, considered more like a college by those in the know, battled TFC in three 30 minute sessions that comprised a 90 minute match.
“The first game will be three thirty minute periods in order to give every player an opportunity to play,” said TFC director of Sports Science Jim Liston before the Reds departed for Florida.
An excellent cross from Jonathan Osorio set up Robbie Findley for the game’s first goal, 10 minutes into the scrimmage.

The game churned on from there, with no goals to come until the 73rd minute, when Jordan Hamilton struck to give TFC a 2-0 lead

Montverde Academy battled back to tie the game with two quick goals. The Reds responded, with Hamilton potting his second of the game thanks to a smart pass from Jay Chapman.

Third round pick Michael Ramos added an insurance marker right at the death, accepting another solid pass from Chapman to give the Reds a 4-2 win.

Perquis and Cheyrou arrive
Two of the Reds' most recent additions arrived in Orlando on Tuesday night. Damien Perquis and Benoit Cheyrou joined their teammates and are expected to take part in training on Wednesday.
