Toronto FC announced Tuesday that the club has selected midfielder Mitchell Taintor (59th Overall) in the third round and forward Darius Madison (70th Overall) and midfielder Brian James (80th Overall) in the fourth round of the 2016 MLS SuperDraft.
Taintor, 21, spent the last four seasons at Rutgers University. He appeared in 71 matches, registering 13 goals and six assists for the Scarlet Knights. During his collegiate career, he was named to the NSCAA Second Team All-Midwest Region, Second Team All-Big Ten Conference and Big Ten Conference All-Tournament Team.
Madison, 21, split time between the University of Virginia and the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. In three years with the Cavaliers, he appeared in 59 matches, registering 12 goals and four assists. In 2014, Madison was named to his second consecutive College Cup All-Tournament Team and was the second leading scorer on team. He was named NSCAA Third Team All-South Atlantic Region, Second Team All-Atlantic Coast Conference and he earned his first selection to the College Cup All-Tournament Team in 2013. During the 2012 season, he was named to the Atlantic Coast Conference All-Freshman Team. In 2015, he transferred to the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and appeared in 13 matches, registering six goals and three assists.
James, 23, split time between the University of Virginia and Pennsylvania State University (Penn State). During his time with the Cavaliers, he appeared in 35 matches, registering four goals and two assists. In 2014, he transferred to Penn State and appeared in 38 matches, registering four goals and 10 assists with the Nittany Lions over the past two seasons.
Last week Toronto FC announced that the club selected midfielder Tsubasa Endoh (9th Overall) in the first round of the 2016 MLS SuperDraft.
