Toronto FC (6W-14L-14T, 32 points) closed out their 2025 MLS campaign with an emphatic 4-2 Decision Day victory over Orlando City SC (14W-9L-11T, 53 points) at BMO Field, thanks to a Djordje Mihailovic brace and goals from Jonathan Osorio and Deandre Kerr on Saturday evening.

Toronto FC Head Coach Robin Fraser made four changes from the side that fell to Los Angeles FC in their penultimate match of the season with Raoul Petretta, Alonso Coello, Maxime Dominguez and Jules-Anthony Vilsaint making way for Richie Laryea, Jonathan Osorio, Derrick Etienne Jr. and Deandre Kerr.

The hosts flew out of the traps and took an early lead in their season finale when Jonathan Osorio ran onto José Cifuentes’ pass and placed a left-footed strike from outside of the box precisely into the top corner beyond Orlando goalkeeper Pedro Gallese.

The seventh minute strike marked the club captain’s 69th goal for TFC and fourth of the season along with the Cifuentes’ first assist for TFC since joining in the summer.

Twenty minutes later, Orlando tested Toronto’s defensive resolve but the hosts stood firm through a sustained spell of pressure. TFC’s Sean Johnson produced a pair of crucial saves, before Richie Laryea and Kosi Thompson made vital outstretched blocks to keep the visitors at bay.

Johnson’s first stop, a sharp, diving save down to his left to deny Martín Ojeda, marked the American goalkeeper’s 1,300th save in MLS regular season play, becoming only the fifth goalkeeper in league history to reach the milestone.

Toronto FC capitalized on their first-half dominance and doubled their lead moments later, as Djordje Mihailovic curled a direct free-kick from just outside of the box into the top corner to make it 2-0.

The 34th minute effort marked Mihailovic’s third goal in his last four matches and his first direct free-kick goal for the Reds.

TFC added a third goal from a swift counter-attack three minutes into the second half. On the play, Djordje Mihailovic released Theo Corbeanu into space on the right flank and the Canadian winger floated a precise cross back to Mihailovic, who controlled with his chest before firing a half-volley that Pedro Gallese could only parry into the net.

The 48th minute strike completed a brace for the newly acquired Designated Player – his first for TFC.

Orlando City pulled one back when Marco Pašalić’s cross was guided home by David Brekalo in the 54th minute.

The Reds, however, restored their three-goal advantage seven minutes later, as Derrick Etienne Jr. latched onto Mihailoivc’s through ball and cut the ball back for Deandre Kerr, who swept home from close range.

The 61st minute goal marked Kerr’s fourth of the 2025 season and 20th for TFC, moving the Ajax, Ontario native into eighth place on the club’s all-time goalscorers list.

The Lions added a late consolation in stoppage time, as Alex Freeman slipped in Duncan McGuire to fire home a powerful finish in the 92nd minute.

Orlando’s consolation strike stood as the sixth and final goal of an entertaining Decision Day affair, as the Reds closed out their 2025 MLS campaign with a commanding 4-2 victory in front of their home supporters at BMO Field.
