Justin Morrow named Week 23 MLS Player of the Week

Toronto FC defender Justin Morrow was named the Alcatel Major League Soccer (MLS) Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for Week 23 of the 2017 MLS season.


Morrow’s first career two-goal performance against the Portland Timbers helped power the Reds to a 4-1 victory this past weekend and opened up a four-point lead atop the Supporters' Shield standings.   


Morrow’s first goal broke a scoreless deadlock in the 58th minute giving Toronto FC a 1-0 lead. Eighteen minutes later, he registered his first career two-goal game and fifth goal of the season tying last year’s goal total. This season, Morrow has been named to the MLS Team of the Week for Weeks 10 and 23.

The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a panel of journalists from NASR. The group consists of members of print, television, radio and online media.
