Justin Morrow Named to USMNT 2017 Gold Cup Squad

Toronto FC defender Justin Morrow has been named to United States Head Coach Bruce Arena’s 23-man roster for the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Morrow, 29, has earned one cap for the United States Men’s National Team (USMNT), during a friendly against Canada in January, 2013. He was also called into the team for FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Costa Rica and Mexico in March, 2013 but was an unused substitute in those matches. For Toronto FC this season, Morrow has appeared in 18 games (MLS and the Canadian Championship), registering three goals and two assists. He was named to the MLS Team of the Week for Week 10.

The United States has been placed in Group B along with Panama, Martinique and Nicaragua. The USMNT will open the tournament on Saturday, July 8 against Panama at 4:30 p.m. ET at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tenn. The USMNT will then face Martinique on Wednesday, July 12 (9:00 p.m. ET) at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, Fla. and conclude the group stage on Saturday, July 15 against Nicaragua (7:00 p.m. ET) at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio.
