Toronto FC midfield duo Djordje Mihailovic and Jonathan Osorio have been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 39, as a starter and substitute respectively, after influential performances in the club’s emphatic 4-2 victory over Orlando City SC at BMO Field.
The Reds capped off their 2025 campaign in front of their home supporters with a dominant display against the Lions on Decision Day. Club captain Jonathan Osorio opened the scoring for the hosts before Designated Player Djordje Mihailovic recorded his first brace for TFC and added an assist on Deandre Kerr’s second-half strike, as TFC scored four goals in a match for the first time since their commanding 5-1 win over rivals CF Montréal on May 17.
Toronto took control early in their season finale, when Osorio latched on José Cifuentes’ pass and unleashed a left-footed strike from outside of the box into the top corner beyond Orlando goalkeeper Pedro Gallese. The seventh minute opener marked the Toronto native’s 69th goal for his hometown club and the fourth of the 2025 MLS season.
TFC capitalized on their first-half dominance when Djordje Mihailovic curled a direct free-kick into the top corner to double the lead, marking the playmaker’s first direct free-kick goal for the Reds.
Mihailovic struck again shortly after the restart, finishing off a swift counter-attack that culminated with the American midfielder controlling Theo Corbeanu’s cross with his chest before firing a powerful left-footed shot past Pedro Gallese.
The Reds added their fourth and final goal when Mihailovic picked out the run of Derrick Etienne Jr., whose low pass was swept home by Deandre Kerr.
The 61st minute sequence marked the first time Mihailovic recorded three goal contributions (two goals, one assist) in a single match for TFC, moving the summer signing to a team-leading eight goal contributions (four goals, four assists) alongside Theo Corbeanu, since joining the Reds in August.
