Toronto FC II win MLS NEXT Pro Northeast Division, clinch spot in 2022 MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs

Toronto FC II, MLS NEXT Pro affiliate of Toronto FC, captured the league’s inaugural Northeast Division title with a 2-1 victory over Orlando City B on MLS NEXT Pro Decision Day, Sunday, September 18. With the result, TFC II finished second in the Eastern Conference on 41 points (12W 9L 3D) and clinched a playoff berth for the first time in the club’s eight-year history.

Toronto FC II will host Philadelphia Union II in the MLS NEXT Pro Eastern Conference semifinal on Saturday, September 24 at BMO Field, with kick-off set for 7:00 p.m. ET. Fans and members are invited to attend and support the Young Reds in action by registering online HERE for free this week. Gates at BMO Field will open at 6:00 p.m. ET and select concession stands near the designated seating areas will be open to serve fans in attendance.

Led by Head Coach Gianni Cimini, the 2022 MLS NEXT Pro regular season marked the most successful campaign in TFC II history, which included the most wins (12), highest point total (41 points), most goals scored (44), highest goal differential (+6), most away wins (6) and the longest unbeaten run in club history (10 matches; seven wins and three draws) between June 2 and August 21, 2022.

The 2022 MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs will continue the weekend of October 1 with the Eastern and Western Conference Finals and will culminate with the inaugural MLS NEXT Pro Cup on October 8. TFC II Head Coach Gianni Cimini and a player will address media at BMO Training Ground on Thursday to preview the team’s Eastern Conference semifinal at BMO Field, with additional details to follow.
