Toronto FC II announced today that the club has signed midfielder Jordan Faria to an MLS NEXT Pro contract. Faria will join the club’s roster pending league and federation approval.

“Jordan returns after gaining valuable experience in Finland and the Canadian Premier League,” said Toronto FC II Head Coach Gianni Cimini. “He adds quality on the ball to our front line, is good in 1v1 situations and has an ability to deliver a variety of crosses with both feet. He also has a tremendous work rate and will add to the team’s ability to press opposition in their half.”

Faria, 22, returns to Toronto FC II after spending the past two seasons with Musan Salama (Finland, Second Division) and York United FC (Canadian Premier League), where he made 35 combined appearances and scored seven goals. In his first stint with the Young Reds, Faria scored two goals and registered two assists in 32 combined appearances (United Soccer League and USL League One) through two seasons (2018, 2019). The Brampton, Ontario native signed his first contract with TFC II on July 20, 2018 after making his professional debut against Pittsburgh Riverhounds on April 7, 2018 and scoring his first goal against Charlotte Independence on May 19, 2018. The following season, Faria’s direct free-kick goal against Chattanooga Red Wolves SC on September 6 earned USL League One Fans’ Choice Goal of the Week honours. Prior to the Young Reds, Faria originally joined the Toronto FC Academy in January 2012 after spending seven years playing with Brampton Youth Soccer Club.

At the international level, Faria represented Canada at the 2017 Concacaf U-17 Championship in Panama, starting all three of the team’s games at the tournament. In 2017, he was also named runner-up for the Canadian U-17 Male Player of the Year award.
