Toronto FC II announced today that the club has signed goalkeeper Shafique Wilson to an MLS NEXT Pro contract. Wilson will join the club’s roster pending league and federation approval.

“Shafique’s preseason performance earned him a place on the roster and we're happy to have him join us,” said Toronto FC II Goalkeeping Coach David Monsalve. “His addition maintains the high level of competition in our goalkeeper department and underscores our commitment to developing local talent. We look forward to seeing him continue to grow and contribute to our success on the pitch."

Wilson, 22, recently spent the 2023 season with Fort Wayne FC, where he made six appearances and helped the club become USL League Two Valley Division champions. The Brampton, Ontario native previously split his National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) career between the University of Albany and Florida Atlantic University (FAU). Following his freshman year at FAU, Wilson recorded 102 saves and 13 clean sheets through 31 appearances (2021 – 2023) for the Great Danes. As a senior, Wilson was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team and earned an America East All-Academic selection in 2023.
