Toronto FC II announced today that the club has signed goalkeeper Abraham Rodriguez to an MLS NEXT Pro contract. He will join the club’s roster pending league and federation approval. 

"Abraham is a rare gem in the world of goalkeeping, possessing experience beyond his years,” said Toronto FC II Goalkeeping Coach David Monsalve. “His leadership qualities, honed through captaincy at his previous club, infuse our team with a sense of security and confidence. His integration, drive and intensity have elevated the entire goalkeeping department and has helped create a fantastic competitive working environment for all.”

Rodriguez, 21, joins the Young Reds after coming through the ranks at Colorado Rapids (Major League Soccer). The Thornton, Colorado native signed a First Team contract as a Homegrown player with the Rapids on February 20, 2020 and made two appearances for the MLS club, including his debut against Portland Timbers on June 25, 2022. In Denver, he also represented Colorado Rapids 2 in MLS NEXT Pro action, registering 87 saves and seven clean sheets in 27 appearances across two seasons (2022, 2023). The goalkeeper originally joined the Colorado Rapids Academy in 2016 and spent time on loan with the Colorado Springs Switchbacks of the USL Championship, where he made 29 appearances through three seasons (2019 – 2021). In 2019, Rodriguez was named to the USL Championship's ‘20 Under 20’ list at the age of 17.
