Toronto FC II (8W-11L-4T, 30 points) fell to a 5-1 road loss against the reigning MLS NEXT Pro Cup champions Red Bull New York II (12W-8L-4T, 41 points) at MSU Soccer Park on Sunday evening.
Toronto FC II Head Coach Gianni Cimini made six changes from last weekend’s starting eleven against Chattanooga FC with Zakaria Nakhly, Lazar Stefanovic, Stefan Kapor, Damar Dixon, Diego Nué-Brito and Elias Khodri coming into the side for Adisa De Rosario, Daniel Stampatori, Reid Fisher, Gabriel Mikina, Tristan Blyth and Dékwon Barrow.
The Young Reds found an early breakthrough when Diego Nué-Brito slipped through Elias Khodri, who drilled a powerful effort past RBNY II goalkeeper Tobias Szewczyk to make it 1-0.
The fourth minute opener marked Khodri’s fifth goal of the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro season and Nué-Brito’s first assist for TFC II.
Jahmarie Nolan also tested the hosts’ backline early, firing three shots in the opening 10 minutes as TFC II began the Sunday night encounter on the front foot.
Red Bull New York II responded with two first-half goals of their own, with Dennis Gjengaar scoring a brace to give the hosts a 2-1 lead heading into the interval.
The reigning MLS NEXT Pro Cup champions added a third eight minutes into the restart through Andy Rojas before a swift counter-attack eight minutes later saw Rojas slip in Dennis Nelich, who made it 4-1.
The hosts added a fifth and final goal through Christian Gallagher in the 67th minute to seal all three points in a commanding 5-1 victory in Montclair, New Jersey.
