Match Recap: Toronto FC II vs. New York Red Bulls II

TFCII vs. NYRBII

The Young Reds fell to the first place New York Red Bulls II 1-0 on Wednesday night at the Ontario Soccer Centre.

Newly acquired loanee goalkeeper Nathan Ingham made his Toronto FC II debut. The Keswick Ontario native made multiple key stops to keep the score at 0-0 into halftime.

“I was happy to get out there, not the result we wanted. The conditions were not in our favour but it is what it is,” added Ingham.

The best chance for the Young Reds came midway through the first half. A fortunate bounce led to Mo Babouli getting some space in the box. However, his attempt hit the post.

The Red Bulls would finally find their breakthrough early in the second half. A scramble off a corner lead to the ball falling at the feet of Junior Flemmings who made no mistake to tally his 7th goal.

Adam Bouchard also made his return from injury playing the final 25 minutes of the game. He made a crucial goal line clearance in the final seconds of play. “I felt good, obviously not happy with the result,” said the defender.

Toronto FC II is back in action on Sunday August 28 at 4:00PM when they host bitter rivals FC Montreal.
