Sebastian Giovinco Voted MLS Player of the Week

Toronto FC forward Sebastian Giovinco was voted Major League Soccer Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for Week 19 of the 2015 MLS season. He becomes the first player in Toronto FC history to be named MLS Player of the Week three times in a season (Week 13, Week 14 and Week 19).


Giovinco scored a first half hat trick within a nine-minute span, which ties for the third fastest in MLS history. He also becomes the first player in club history to record a hat trick during league play. Giovinco has registered 12 goals and nine assists in all competitions (11 MLS goals, eight MLS assists and one Amway Canadian Championship goal and assist) for Toronto FC this season.


Through 17 matches this season, he has become Toronto FC’s franchise leader for assists in a season (8), shots in a season (98) and shots on goal in a season (42). He is currently second (tied) for the franchise record with 11 goals in a season.
