Chapman and Hamilton Named To 2016 Chipotle MLS Homegrown team

Toronto FC midfielder Jay Chapman and forward Jordan Hamilton have been named to the 2016 Chipotle MLS Homegrown team. They will meet the Mexican U-20 national team in the third-annual Chipotle MLS Homegrown Game. The match will be held on Wednesday, July 27 at Avaya Stadium in San Jose, California. Kick-off is set for 9:00 p.m. ET.


Chapman is currently in his second season with Toronto FC. He became the 11th player in club history to sign for the first team from the Kia Toronto FC Academy.  Chapman has split time between Toronto FC and Toronto FC II this season. With Toronto FC, he has made nine combined appearances between MLS league matches and the Amway Canadian Championship this season. As a member of Toronto FC II, he has appeared in two matches.


Hamilton is currently in his third season with Toronto FC. He became the ninth player in club history to sign for the first team from the Academy. Hamilton has split time between Toronto FC and Toronto FC II this season. With Toronto FC, he has made eight combined appearances, registering four goals between MLS league matches and the Amway Canadian Championship this season. He registered his first MLS goal on June 25 against Orlando City SC. As a member of Toronto FC II, he has appeared in three matches.


This will be Hamilton’s first Chipotle MLS Homegrown Game and Chapman’s second. They both join Ashtone Morgan on Toronto FC’s all-time Chipotle MLS Homegrown Game player list.
