Match Preview: TFC II vs. Harrisburg City Islanders

TFC II - Chapman

Toronto FC II play their second match of a 5-game home stand this Wednesday against the Harrisburg City Islanders.

The young Reds are coming off a dramatic come-from-behind victory over the Richmond Kickers that saw Massimo Mirabelli score an injury time goal to give TFC II the 2-1 win.

The first meeting between the two clubs ended in a scoreless draw at Skyline Sports Complex on June 6th.

This is the third game in eight days for TFC II while Harrisburg should be well rested considering their most recent match was on August 12th against Louisville City FC.

TFC II goes into Wednesday’s contest with a record of 5-12-3, 11th in the Eastern Conference.

The Opposition

The aforementioned match against Louisville City FC was disastrous for the Islanders to say the least.

Louisville forward Matt Fondy went on a tear, lighting up Harrisburg for four goals in route to a 5-1 win.

The City Islanders' struggle on the defensive side is no secret. The team is second last in goals against average, allowing an average of 2.10 goals per game.

Offense, however, hasn’t been an issue for Harrisburg. They are 6th in the league in goals per game with an average of 1.65.

The City Islanders sit 7th in the Eastern Conference with a record of 8-8-4, four points out of the last playoff spot with two games in hand.

Players to Watch

Jason Plumhoff has been a consistent presence for Harrisburg and leads the team with five goals while also amassing five assists.

The City Islanders have had offensive contributions from several other players including Brett Jankouskas, Ken Tribbett, Dante Leverock and Jose Barrill whom have all scored three goals each this season.

Enric Valles has been great addition for Harrisburg this season as he leads the team with six assists.

TFC II and USL Debuts This Past Weekend

Two TFC II players made their USL debuts against the Richmond Kickers this past Saturday: Bubacarr Jobe and Robert Boskovic.

Head Coach Jason Bent named Jobe to the Starting XI while Boskovic came in as a second half substitute for Mark-Anthony Kaye.

For Jobe it was also his professional debut for TFC II. He most recently spent time with the Austin Aztex of the Premier Development League before signing with TFC II a few weeks ago.

Boskovic had already made his TFC II debut in a friendly match against AS Roma Primavera on July 26th. He joined the Toronto FC Academy in January of this year and spent some time playing with the Academy in League1 Ontario before making the jump to TFC II.
