Match Preview: Toronto FC vs. Vancouver Whitecaps

Amway Final Callout

The final is here.

Toronto FC will host the Vancouver Whitecaps on Tuesday night at BMO Field in the first leg of the Amway Canadian Championship final.

With five games in 15 days coming up head coach Greg Vanney will need all hands on deck as the Reds enter the grueling summer potion of their schedule.

"Everyone has to be ready,” said Vanney following training on Monday at BMO Field. “Everyone is going to be called upon these next two weeks."

Ashtone Morgan, Daniel Lovitz and Jozy Altidore continue to work their way back from injury and are unlikely to be available.

The Reds will rely on the striking prowess of Sebastian Giovinco and Jordan Hamilton up front. Hamilton was a driving force in the Reds’ semifinal win over the Montreal Impact. The Canadian striker knows how important this leg is.

"It's the championship,” he said. “Hopefully we go out at home and get a decent lead."

Getting out to a positive start is going to be massive. The Reds were able to parlay a stunning opening 70 minutes at home against the Impact into a place in the final. Vancouver is coming off a 2-1 loss to the New England Revolution at home, but they will be feeling confident entering BMO Field. Carl Robinson’s side defeated the Reds in a 4-3 shootout on May 14.

"Vancouver is a very organized, well coached team,” said Steven Beitashour.
