Two down, four to go.

Canada began their road to the Hexagonal round of World Cup qualifying with a win against Honduras in Vancouver and a goalless draw against El Salvador in San Salvador on Tuesday night.

As expected Mexico is in control of Group A after starting the fourth round of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in Russia with two wins.

Canada will meet the Mexicans twice, once at home and once away, in March once qualifying resumes. In the grand scheme of things picking up a point from those two fixtures would be massive, but it will obviously be very difficult. The United States began their road to Russia with a win and a draw against Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Trinidad and Tobago respectively.

Michael Bradley, Jozy Altidore and company were held to a 0-0 draw in Port Of Spain on Tuesday night. With the result the United States are locked in a tie for first place in Group C with the Soca Warriors, though they're in first place via goal differential.

Altidore was lauded by ESPN FC’s Jeff Carlisle for his play in the qualifier.

“Provided good defense, passing and link play, although some shaky touches spoiled some promising moments. Should have had an assist only for [Gyasi] Zardes to squander the chance. Faded a bit, but a well-rounded performance overall.”

The U.S. take on Guatemala twice in March as their campaign for qualification continues.
