Match Recap: Impact Knock Reds Out Of Playoffs

The Montreal Impact defeated Toronto FC 3-0 on Thursday night, ending the Reds’ 2015 campaign.


Patrice Bernier opened the scoring in the 19th minute after the Impact caught TFC out on the counter. Ignacio Piatti added the second goal in the 33rd minute, capitalizing on a slip by Reds defender Josh Williams. A scramble in the box led to Didier Drogba’s goal in the 39th minute.


TFC tried to muster a comeback in the second half to no avail. A well taken free kick by Sebastian Giovinco was saved by Impact goalkeeper Evan Bush in the 50th minute.


Montreal advances to play the Columbus Crew in the Eastern Conference semifinals. The New York Red Bulls will take on the D.C.United in the other semifinal.
