Day 1: Spotlight On Good Deeds

Monday, August 13 marked the start of TFC//TWELVE. To kick it off Toronto FC has chosen to highlight and support the amazing initiative started at www.peopleforgood.ca. This website puts forward one ambitious goal, to “make the world a better place, one good deed at a time.”

Although at first thought a daunting task, they challenge us to do so in ways each of us can manage and dictate, by encouraging us to make generous gestures and donations of our time in our daily lives.

Going a step further peopleforgood.ca provides readers with a “Good Ideas” section that offers tips on how to get the generous thoughts flowing.

Inspired by this initiative and in conjunction with TFC//TWELVE community efforts, Toronto FC front office staff are each personally taking on the challenge to make our world a better place, one good deed at a time and reporting their experiences in an attempt to challenge their routine and change their own perception.

We would like to encourage you to visit the People for Good website. It is hard not to be motivated to make a difference in someone’s life. We would love to hear your experiences, please email them to community@torontofc.ca

Here are a few suggestions to start you off:

Say hello to your neighbour
Clean out your closet and donate your old clothes
Say good morning to a stranger
Help someone cross the street
Pick up a piece of litter
Give a random high-five to someone you walk by
Stop to watch a street performer
Buy a sandwich for a homeless person
Help carry someone’s groceries
Pay for someone’s coffee
Give up your spot in line
Give up your seat
Pay for someone’s fare
Thank the bus driver for the lift

Remember to check back Tuesday for day two of TFC//TWELVE.
