The Campeones Cup trophy – mounted on an obsidian base – features a petal harvesting the iconic gold One, the primary element of the newly introduced brand that reflects the unity of the partnership between leagues as well as the ultimate search for supremacy. Designed and produced by metalsmith Jose Juan Marmolejo of Mexico-based Izta Galerias, the modern and dynamic trophy is made of silver and is 24 karat gold leaf gilded.

"The Campeones Cup trophy is special because besides it being about a new and historic tournament and a great alliance, it is also about a new and historic piece of art. Composed of pure materials and elaborated with the highest quality standards, there was a focus in it reflecting the transcending importance of what the game will be,” said Marmolejo. “We hope it is well received by the fans, and of course by the clubs fighting for it.”

Weighing 21.16 pounds (9.6 kilos) and measuring almost 20 inches (50 cm) in height with a diameter of 6.6 inches (17 cm) at its highest point, the base consists of obsidian extracted from Teotihuacan, an ancient Mesoamerican city located in the Valley of Mexico, just northeast of Mexico City.

Tickets for the 2018 Campeones Cup are on sale via www.Ticketmaster.ca. Fans are urged to purchase tickets early in order to ensure the best seats for what is sure to be an exciting clash between the champions of both leagues.

The partnership between leagues includes a sharing of best business practices and a collaboration around social responsibility efforts to drive positive social change. An intense rivalry on the field will be a true partnership off the field. More information regarding the joint social responsibility program will be announced as it becomes available.
