Three Keys to the Match: Montreal Impact at Toronto FC

MTL (home) Three Keys 2018

Back home for a Rivalry Week matchup with Montreal. Here are the Benjamin Moore Three to the Match.
Keep Your Composure

Derby days tend to get heated, and with their playoff lives on the line, Saturday will be ratcheted up to another level.

With just 10 games left to play, every point available will be vital and TFC can’t afford to give anything away cheaply. The 401 Derby has seen its fair share of red cards in recent history, but the Reds will need to maintain cool heads and play to their strengths against a surging Impact side.

Home Debut?

Toronto’s midsummer signing Lucas Janson made an immediate impact in his debut in San Jose last Saturday, starting and scoring the game’s opening goal.

With Jozy Altidore suspended for Saturday’s match, Janson could well get the call from Greg Vanney once again. The Argentine now has a full week of training under his belt and continues to integrate with the squad. Keep an eye on how he links up with Giovinco to unlock the Montreal defence.

Piatti’s Presence

An old foe is still getting it done in La belle province.

At 33-years-old, Ignacio Piatti continues to be one of the league’s most dangerous attacking threats. Working along with left wing, Piatti is a constant danger on the break and a handful to deal with off the dribble. The Argentine has 12 goals and nine assists on the year and will be looking to add to his tally on Saturday night.
