Three Keys to the Match: Toronto FC vs. New York City FC

NYC (away) Three Keys 2018

Back home to take on the blue side of New York. Here are the Benjamin Moore three keys for Sunday afternoon at BMO Field.
Fine Form

As the summer winds down, the Reds are only getting hotter.

Dating back to July 18th, Toronto FC have gone six matches unbeaten in all competitions with a 4-0-2 record. And against another Eastern Conference opponent, TFC will look to keep the good times rolling in front of their home crowd as they continue to climb the table towards a playoff spot.

Shutdown D

The Reds can still score with the best of them, but it’s been the defence that’s helped to steady the ship in recent weeks.

Conceding just five goals over their last six matches, the backline provided a stability that was often missing this season. Eriq Zavaleta and Gregory van der Wiel have been important pieces to the puzzle, and they’ll once gain need to be at their best with David Villa set to return from injury and Chris Mavinga missing out through red card suspension.

No Stopping Oso

Jonathan Osorio appeared to have been playing his best football in the second half of 2017, but his 2018 campaign has redefined what his peak could truly be.

The Canadian international has been on an absolute tear this season, scoring 15 goals in all competitions, a career high. On top of his goal-scoring output, Osorio has been a vital cog in the TFC midfield on both sides of the ball.
