A midweek clash against an Eastern Conference foe. Here are the Benjamin Moore three keys for Wednesday night’s match vs. D.C. United.
First Goal

With four points from their last two road matches, the Reds are beginning to find their footing in the league.

Much of their success over the last two matches can be traced back to their quick starts, scoring the first goal in both Columbus and Philadelphia. This has allowed TFC to put the game on their terms while the opposition is forced to chase the game. If the Reds can strike first on Wednesday night, they’ll have D.C. right where they want them.

Defensive Posture

Toronto FC looked more like their 2017 selves against the Union last Friday night, and it should come as no surprise.

Both Nicholas Hasler and Nick Hagglund returned to the starting lineup, freeing up Michael Bradley to return to the midfield. The result was a clean sheet on the road and some solid performances along the backline. The Reds will look to use that momentum and carry it over to Wednesday’s match.

Acosta Awareness

D.C. have struggled out of the gates, but that doesn’t mean they don’t possess some quality in the attacking third.

Much of their creative spark comes from 24-year-old Luciano Acosta who leads the team with five assists on the season. The diminutive playmaker is quick on the ball and can slip in a killer final pass to release the likes of Darren Mattocks and Paul Arriola. The TFC midfield will need to be quick to close down the space as he receives the ball in order to keep a second-straight clean sheet.
