Three Keys to the Match: Toronto FC vs. FC Dallas

FCD Three Keys 2018

More Friday footy at BMO Field is on tap. Here are the Benjamin Moore three keys to our annual clash with FC Dallas.
Back-to-Back

Oh man. Oh man oh man…

The 2018 season has already been filled with its fair share of ups and downs, but Friday night is another chance to keep the positive momentum going. On the back last Friday’s win against Orlando City SC, TFC have the opportunity to win back-to-back matches in league play for the first time this season. Home points are crucial ahead of a road-heavy June schedule, making Friday’s fixture all the more important.

Atomic Return

The Reds got some big contributions all over the park in the absence of their top two strikers last Friday night, a good sign for the future. But after serving his one-game suspension following his red card in New England, Sebastian Giovinco is set to re-enter the fold.

The Italian will be raring to go after missing out in last week’s win with a point to prove. His presence alone will allow the likes of Victor Vazquez and Jonathan Osorio to have more time on the ball and free up the TFC attack.

Mavinga vs. Maxi

A big part of last week’s win was the returning presence of both Eriq Zavaleta and Chris Mavinga into the starting lineup, allowing Michael Bradley to move back to his natural position in the midfield.

Friday night will pose another big test for the defence with one-time TFC striker Maxi Urruti in town. The mobile forward is a danger just from just about anywhere in the final third, already bagging five goals through nine starts in league play. Look for Mavinga to match up with the Dallas forward throughout the night as they look to stymie the Hoops.
