Training Notes: November 4, 2017

TORONTO – In their final day of training ahead of Sunday’s return leg against the New York Red Bulls, head coach Greg Vanney delivered some more positive news regarding the potential returns of Drew Moor and Victor Vazquez.

After sustaining ankle and pelvic injuries, respectively, the duo took part in a full training session on Saturday morning.

“So far, so good in terms of potential availability for tomorrow,” Vanney said. “They did a bit more in training today, so we’ll see tonight and tomorrow how they feel. They’ve made good progress from last week.”

In collaboration with the medical staff, Vanney has been keeping a watchful eye over the duo as the Reds look to return to the Eastern Conference Championship for a second-straight season.

“A lot of it is about how they feel,” Vanney continued. “Both of those guys know their bodies, they’ve been around for a long time, so they know where they’re at and what they’re capable of giving. They’re consummate team guys, so they’ll be very honest if they feel like they can’t do something. Neither injuries are ones that will necessarily get worse, it’s just a matter of can they do all the things necessary over the course of a game.”

Michael Bradley knows Sunday afternoon’s match will be a battle no matter who is available for selection. In the driver’s seat with a 2-1 aggregate advantage, the captain knows his side will need to be at their best to advance to the next round.

“We have a great chance to get the job done in our house, in front of our fans,” he told reporters. “But we know it won’t be easy; they’re going to be going after it right from the opening whistle. It will take a full commitment for 90 minutes.”
