TORONTO - Midfielder Victor Vazquez spoke with the media on Thursday for the first time since suffering an injury in the Reds' first leg match against the New York Red Bulls.

"I feel a bit better," said Vazquez. "I still have pain in the pelvic bone, it's a bit weird. A few moments it's going well, then I start to feel it... But we are still three days out, so we'll see."

Vazquez was a participant in today's training session. The playmaker warmed up and took part in some passing drills.

"I'm confident I can be there [on Sunday], but you never know," stated Vazquez.

Whether or not Vazquez is ready to go, the team remains confident that they have the tools to get the job done when their depth is tested.

“We hope it’s nothing serious, but guys have been stepping up all year,” defender Steven Beitashour said. “We’re going to have to continue to do that if we want to make a deep run into the playoffs.”

Around the training ground, the rest of the squad continued to prepare for the return leg of the Eastern Conference Semifinals against the New York Red Bulls. Holding a 2-1 lead with a pair of away goals in tow, TFC hold the decided advantage. With a “desperate” Red Bulls side heading to BMO Field, head coach Greg Vanney has his side preparing for several different looks from their opposition.

“We have a lot of variations that we’re ready for. We want to take care of our goal, not give up much, but we want to create more chances and be aggressive when we have the chance. That said, the game plan doesn’t have to change [from Leg 1]. If we get the same result that we got in New York, then we’re through to the next round. Whatever’s available in the game, we’ll take it.”
