Academy Collegiate Roundup: Week 7

This is the Toronto FC Academy collegiate roundup where we keep tabs on our Academy graduates competing in collegiate programs across the continent. There are currently 15 grads lacing them up in both the NCAA and U Sports. 

NCAA

Ethan Beckford – Freshman – Penn State University

Beckford put together a great performance in Penn State's 6-2 win over Rutgers. Beckford recorded a brace and added an assist as the Nittany Lions snapped their six-game losing streak. Earlier in the week, Beckford was named to TopDrawerSoccer's top 100 midseason freshman list, coming in at 85.

Dante Morrissette – Freshman – Northeastern

Morrissette started both of the Huskies' games this week. The defender went 74 minutes in a 1-1 draw with Boston University and then went 84 minutes in their 2-1 loss to James Madison. Morrissette assisted on the Huskies' goal against James Madison for his first career NCAA point.

Kota Sakurai – Freshman – Dartmouth College

Sakurai made two appearances for Dartmouth this week. The midfielder started and went 32 minutes in the Big Green's 2-1 win over Columbia. Sakurai made a substitute appearance in a 4-2 loss to New Hampshire. 20th ranked Dartmouth is now 9-3-1 on the season and 3-0-1 in the Ivy Leauge.

Brogan Engbers – Freshman – Liberty University

Engbers did not appear for Liberty in their game this week. Liberty is 9-3-1 on the season.

Malik Smith – Freshman – Grand Canyon University

Smith made a cameo appearance for GCU in their 3-1 loss to Air Force. The defender came on for seven minutes. GCU is now 6-9-0 this season and 3-4-0 in the WAC.

Thomas Mickoski – Sophomore – St John’s University

Mickoski came on as a substitute for St. John's in their 1-0 win over Depaul. The Red Storm is now 6-6-2 on the season.

Leonard Sohn – Sophomore – Manhattan College

Sohn made a pair of appearances for the Jaspers. The defender started in a 1-0 loss to Fairfield and came on as a sub in a 3-1 win over Siena. The Jaspers are 8-7-0 this season and 5-3-0 in the MAAC.

Kevon Black – Senior – Duke University

Black did not appear for the Blue Devils as they drew 0-0 with Notre Dame. The 15th ranked Blue Devils are now 10-3-2 this season but 3-3-1 in the difficult ACC.

Michael Marcantognini – Senior – Michigan State University

Marcantongnini came off the bench and recorded an assist in the Spartans 2-0 win over Northwestern this week. The 9th ranked Spartans are 11-2-2 on the season and undefeated in Big Ten.

Eli Roubos – Senior – Florida Gulf Coast University

Roubos started for FGCU in their 2-1 defeat to USC Upstate. The Eagles are now 6-5-2 on the year and 3-1-1 in the ASUN.

U Sports

Robert Boskovic – Sophomore – Ryerson University

Boskovic started both of Ryerson's final two games of the regular season this past weekend. The defender recorded a shot on goal in the Rams' 2-1 win over Queens and made the start in a 4-0 win over RMC.

Andrew Dias – Sophomore – Ryerson University

Dias started in the win over Queens and took the game vs. RMC off. The Rams finished the season with a 9-6-1 record good for 3rd place in the East division despite forfeiting the first six games of the season. The OUA playoffs get started this weekend.

Stakic made two appearances this week for the Varsity Blues. The defender started in a 4-0 win over RMC and made a substitute appearance in a 2-1 win over Queens.

Nicholas Osorio – Freshman – University of Toronto
