Academy Collegiate Roundup: Week 6

This is the Toronto FC Academy collegiate roundup where we keep tabs on our Academy graduates competing in collegiate programs across the continent. There are currently 15 grads lacing them up in both the NCAA and U Sports. 

NCAA

Ethan Beckford – Freshman – Penn State University

Beckford made both starts for the Nittany Lions this week. The forward scored his second goal of the season in their 3-2 OT loss to Pittsburgh and then went 76 minutes in Penn State's 1-0 loss to Michigan State. The Nittany Lions are just 2-9-2 on the season.

Dante Morrissette – Freshman – Northeastern

Morrissette has consistently been one of the first names on Chris Gbandi's team sheet this season. Morrissette made two more starts this past week and went the full 90 in both games. The Huskies had a tough week losing 6-0 to SMU and 4-0 to Elon.

Kota Sakurai – Freshman – Dartmouth College

Sakurai started and went 70 minutes in Dartmouth's 4-0 victory over Penn. The win improved the Big Green's record to 8-2-1 this year.

Brogan Engbers – Freshman – Liberty University

Engbers did not appear for Liberty in their games this week. Liberty is 8-3-1 on the season.

Malik Smith – Freshman – Grand Canyon University

Smith came off the bench for 30 minutes in GCU's 2-0 loss to UT Rio Grande Valley. GCU is 6-7-0 on the season but 3-2-0 on WAC play.

Thomas Mickoski – Sophomore – St John’s University

Mickoski did not appear for the Red Storm in either of their games this week. St John's is 5-6-2 on the season and 2-2-1 in the Big East.

Leonard Sohn – Sophomore – Manhattan College

Sohn came on as a sub for the Jaspers in their 1-0 loss to Quinnipiac. Sohn played 51 minutes and recorded a shot on goal. The Jaspers are 7-6-0 on the season but they are 4-2-0 in the MAAC.

Kevon Black – Senior – Duke University

Black did not appear from the Blue Devils as they fell 4-1 to #11 ranked Clemson. Duke is 10-3-1 and 3-3-0 in the tough ACC.

Michael Marcantognini – Senior – Michigan State University

Marcantongnini made the start as the 5th ranked Spartans took on West Virginia. Marcantongnini went 40 minutes and recorded a shot on goal in the 1-0 loss. The senior then went on to make a 6-minute appearance as MSU knocked off Penn State.  MSU is 10-2-2 on the season.

Eli Roubos – Senior – Florida Gulf Coast University

Roubos made two appearances for FGCU this week. Roubos played 42 minutes as FGCU fell to FIU 4-3. Then the senior started and went 110 minutes in FGCU's 1-1 draw with Stetson. FCGU is 6-4-2 on the year and 3-0-1 in conference play.

U Sports

Robert Boskovic – Sophomore – Ryerson University

Boskovic made the start as Ryseron knocked off Laurentian 3-1 and then took the game off as Ryerson knocked off Nipissing.

Andrew Dias – Sophomore – Ryerson University

Dias found the back of the net for the 4th time this season in the Rams win over Laurentian. He also got the game off against Nipissing. Ryerson is now 7-6-1 this season and sit in 4th place in the East.

Nikola Stakic – Sophomore – University of Toronto

Stakic started both of U of T's matches this week. The Varsity Blues knocked of Nippissing 6-0 and then fell to Laurentian 2-1.The Varsity Blues are now 8-2-4 on the year and sit in second place in the East.

Nicholas Osorio – Freshman – University of Toronto

Osorio returned to the U of T lineup and started both of their matches. Osorio scored in his return against Nippissing and then started in their game vs. Laurentian
