Toronto FC defender Justin Morrow was named the Alcatel Major League Soccer (MLS) Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for Week 30 of the 2017 MLS season. This marks the second Player of the Week award for Morrow this season after previously winning the award back in Week 23.

Morrow’s first career hat trick helped clinch the 2017 MLS Supporters' Shield with a 4-2 win over the New York Red Bulls at BMO Field on Saturday night. Toronto FC became the first Canadian club to win the Supporters' Shield.

Making his 200th MLS appearance (Regular Season & Playoffs) on Saturday night, Morrow recorded the second MLS hat trick by a defender and first since the LA Galaxy's Jose Vazquez in 1997. He also became the second player in club history to record a hat trick during MLS league play. This season, Morrow has scored a career high eight MLS goals to lead all defenders and has also been named to the MLS Team of the Week for Weeks 10, 23 and 30.

Toronto FC’s all-time list of MLS Player of the Week honours includes: Justin Morrow (Week 23 & 30 – 2017) Sebastian Giovinco (Week 8, 21, 25 – 2017, Weeks 20, 22 – 2016 & Weeks 13, 14, 19 – 2015) Jozy Altidore (Week 27 – 2017, Week 1 – 2015), Jermain Defoe (Week 2 – 2014), Robert Earnshaw (Week 2 – 2013), Danny Koevermans (Week 17 – 2012 & Week 27 – 2011), Joao Plata (Week 8 – 2011), Dwayne De Rosario (Weeks 5, 10 – 2010), Amado Guevara (Week 10 – 2009) and Chad Barrett (Week 17 – 2009).

The Alcatel MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a panel of journalists from NASR. The group consists of members of print, television, radio and online media.
