Academy Collegiate Roundup: Week 4

This is the Toronto FC Academy collegiate roundup where we keep tabs on our Academy graduates competing in collegiate programs across the continent. There are currently 15 grads lacing them up in both the NCAA and U Sports. 

NCAA

Ethan Beckford – Freshman – Penn State University

Beckford made two starts and scored his first career NCAA goal this week. The forward started and went 51 minutes in the Nittany Lions' 3-0 loss to Temple and then started and scored in a 2-1 overtime loss to the 20th ranked Michigan Wolverines. Penn State is now 2-6-2 on the year and 0-4-0 in the Big 10.

Dante Morrissette – Freshman – Northeastern

Morrissette started both games for Northeastern this week. Morrissette went the full 110 minutes in a 1-1 draw with Hofstra and then went 82 minutes in Northeastern's loss to Drexel firing a pair of shots on goal. The Huskies is now 2-6-2 and 1-2-1 in conference play.

Kota Sakurai – Freshman – Dartmouth College

Sakurai came off the bench in Dartmouth's 2-1 overtime win over Princeton in their conference opener. Dartmouth is now 6-2-0 on the year and 1-0-0 in Ivy League play.

Brogan Engbers – Freshman – Liberty University

Engbers did not appear for Liberty in their game this week. Liberty is 5-3-1 on the season.

Malik Smith – Freshman – Grand Canyon University

Smith started and went 69 minutes for GCU in their WAC Conference opener. GCU defeated Houston Baptist 5-2 and is now 4-5-0 on the year.

Thomas Mickoski – Sophomore – St John’s University

Mickoski came off the bench in St John's 1-0 OT loss to 22nd ranked Butler. St. John's is now 5-4-1 on the year and 2-1-0 in Big East play.

Leonard Sohn – Sophomore – Manhattan College

Sohn made a pair of substitute appearances this week as the Jaspers' improved their record to 5-4-0. The Jaspers have started the MAAC season a perfect 2-0-0 after wins over Iona and Marist this week.

Kevon Black – Senior – Duke University

Black started with a full 90 minutes in Duke's 1-0 win over Appalachian State and closed it out with another full 90 in a 1-0 loss to number 8 ranked Louisville. The Blue Devils now sit at 7-2-1 overall and 2-2-0 in ACC play. Duke was ranked 19th in the country prior to the game against Louisville.

Michael Marcantognini – Senior – Michigan State University

Marcantongnini made a pair of substitute appearances for the #1 ranked Spartans this week. The senior played 61 minutes in MSU's 4-1 loss to Akron (its first of the season) and then played 43 minutes registering a pair of shots in MSU's 5-1 win over the 16th ranked Ohio State University. MSU is an impressive 8-1-1 on the year and 3-0-1 in conference play.

Eli Roubos – Senior – Florida Gulf Coast University

Roubos started and went 41 minutes in FGCU's 2-0 win over the University of North Florida. FGCU is now 4-3-1 on the year and 2-0-0 in conference play.

U Sports

Robert Boskovic – Sophomore – Ryerson University

Boskovic made two appearances as the Rams defeated Queens and RMC this weekend. Ryerson has climbed their way back into 5th place in the East division.

Andrew Dias – Sophomore – Ryerson University

Dias scored his second of the year in the Rams win over Queens and then scored again in their victory over RMC.

Nikola Stakic – Sophomore – University of Toronto

Stakic started both of the Varsity Blues' games last weekend. He scored twice in U of T's 4-0 win over RMC and started in their 1-1 draw with Queens.
