Toronto FC 3, Philadelphia Union 0 | 2017 MLS Match Recap

Toronto FC continued to cement their place as the league’s best team.

Fueled by first-half set-piece goals from Sebastian Giovinco and Nicolas Hasler and a second-half strike from Jozy Altidore, the red-hot Reds rolled to a 3-0 rout of the overmatched Philadelphia Union on Wednesday night at BMO Field.

Alex Bono added a couple of nice saves to earn his seventh shutout for Toronto FC (15-3-8), who won their third straight and improved to 10-0-3 at home while extending their lead in the Supporters’ Shield Race to seven points over New York City FC.

The ninth-place Union (8-12-6) are now winless in their last three and a woeful 1-8-4 on the road this year.
