3 Keys to Toronto vs. D.C. United

DC Three Keys

The Reds are back at BMO Field after a week off. Here are the Benjamin Moore three keys to the match as D.C. United heads north to Toronto.
Get Giovinco Going

It’s no secret that the Reds like to get Giovinco on the ball as often as possible, but the Atomic Ant will surely be licking his chops ahead of Saturday night’s matchup.

Bagging six goals to date, the diminutive Italian has been productive, but not quite to the lofty standard that he has set for himself.

Getting him touches and into the rhythm of the game will be critical for Giovinco to return to his top form. The team has excelled in his time away from the pitch, but the addition of an in-form Giovinco would propel the Reds to new heights.

Win the Wings

If there’s a dangerous area of the pitch for the visiting D.C. United, it lies along the wings.

The likes of Lloyd Sam, Patrick Nyarko and Lamar Neagle can all change a game on their day, meaning Justin Morrow and Steven Beitashour could have a long day at the office.

TFC will have to be wary of the counter attack out wide as a smash-and-grab could see United steal a point (or three).

No Letdown

MLS is a league defined by parity, but the table-topping Reds will certainly be looking to take the full three points at home against cellar dwellers D.C United.

The four-time MLS Cup champs have struggled to find the back of the net, scoring a league-low ten goals in 2017, and it gets even worse when they leave RFK Stadium.

If the Reds are to stay atop the Supporters’ Shield standings, they’ll need to take care of business against a struggle D.C. side.
